All this blue

A jay scoops to its sleeve a helping of sky.

Inside, you hardly fill the bed;
faint as a quarter of pear,

you keep yourself awake by listing
everything you remember to be blue:

cabbage, ink, snow, the birth caul
which lucked you from drowning.

Until you’re above all this blue as a gull,
idly hunting the last of your gentle hauntings.
