Restaurant Window

She told me she’d seen two birds, a brother and a sister, or maybe a mother
and a baby, she wasn’t sure, but they were flying 

across the sky.  She went to look again.  This time she saw trees,
lavender trees she said.  She said they were dancing in the air.  And as she told me

I saw her mind moving in her eyes like a bird on the other side of the glass.
