death is an angel’s cue

no more murder                         and no more catalyst                          no more resolution
just rocking on heels     hands to find a home in                                       one for the face
no more runaway rented cadillac                                                    Qur’an where we left it
days are like dunes     swept and made     obliterated     swept again       tell me no more
about     i don’t have time     see the clocks     now sentient                & we are no longer
kitchen knives         extracting a nerve                    swimming in something we shouldn’t
driving a narrative     walking into the wrong room     unlearning a route home      been a
while since someone said                         salam                             since someone asked
if i made it home      pass by a puddle      thinks it knows me        so peace be upon you
and everything     because every thing    without a face     watches mine       that means
i’m alive      and so are they     so no more        dying   no more                            hiding
no more        moving like blood                         doesn’t     belong                    to my body
